The Social Golfer is the travel and golfing journal of stroke victim Ian Halliwell Prior to his stroke in Dec 2006 at the age of 48, Halliwell an avid Golfer had enjoyed many boys trips to the Costas, Tenerife, Tunisia and South Africa. Playing off 8 he still harboured dreams of retiring and trying for his card on the Seniors Tour. Following his stroke which left him crtically ill and severely disabled for 3 months the desire to return to golf despite being repeatedly told he was unlikely to swing a club again, remained as strong as ever. When within 6 months he returned to the Golf Course, it became anundantly clear to him that he would be unable to reach a standard aproaching that required to obtain a Seniors Card. So he turned his attention to organising Celeb Ams and participating in Pro Ams raising Funds for the Stroke Association and raising stroke awareness. To date he has raised over £20,000. Heeding advise received from old golf pro Bernard Hunt, Halliwell aspired to become the best damned Social Golfer on the Planet, playing on all 5 major continents, at the Best Courses in the best cities and in the best amateur competitions, This is his story so far
